Eight-year-old Raffaelo Storm from Drachten, a small town in the northern part of the Netherlands in the province of Friesland, has a dream. One day he hopes to become a biologist. Raffaelo is passioned about animals and nature. The famous Dutch biologist and television host Freek Vonk is an inspiration for Raffaelo. Nothing stand in the way for Raffaelo to realize his dream. Or does it...? There seems to be a serious obstacle for Raffaelo that might intervene in pursuing his dream. That is: his fear of frogs!
In this moving portrait of a energetic child full of hope and dreams, we follow the every day life of Raffaelo. We meet his friends and grandfather who all confront him with his dream and fear. Slowly it is unraveled if Raffaelo's fear will indeed prevent him from becoming a biologist or not.
The beautiful Dutch landscape plays an important part in this film. Furthermore, typical traditions from Friesland are shown in the film, such as jumping over small ditches with a jumping-pole or eating typical sugary cake made in this part of the Netherlands.
